Asbestos
This is most likely an asbestos material.  This should be tested to ensure
Coffee Can
A coffee canis a great way to cap off a duct NOT!!  We have proper ways to cap these off.
Fresh Air
This fresh air intake had come apart in an attic where the furnace was exhausting its products of combustion.  We were surprised the occupants were still alive
Water Heater Exhaust
Proper wye exhaust ducting should be used when connecting a water heater exhaust
Clearance
Exhaust piping should have proper clearances to ensure fires do not happen as these pipes get quite hot
Exhaust Cap
The cap on the bottom of the flue was loose and not sealed.  This can allow products of combustion into the house that can potentially kill the occupants.
Ducting
The floor was raised in the living room.  Needless to say that this is not the proper way to extend the heating ducts.
Furnace Exhaust2
Extremely dangerous to have an exhaust disconnected.
Ducting2
Ducts in a house must come directly off a main plenum.  There should be no tees or wyes in the ducting.
Spliced Duct
This duct had a hole in the back of it allow warm air to flow to the breezeway that was closed in.
Disconnected
There should only be one thing you can see inside a fresh air intake and that is plastic pipe.  Wires and other building materials should not be present.
