Preparing for a Home Inspection

During an inspection we try to inspect every portion of your house.  This includes running appliances if included and operating the working systems.  This will outline some general ideas of things we wish to see prior to the inspection to ensure everything goes smoothly between our inspection and your home.  WE do not want to disturb things in your home.

  1. Make arrangements to be out of the house for 3-4 hours so we can do our job comfortably and efficiently.
  2. Ensure all locks on gates are left unlocked as we need access to the rear yard of the house.
  3. The area under the attic hatch should be cleared to ease our access.  You may want to put a drop sheet over clothes and other items as attics can be dirty and dusty places.
  4. The area in front of the furnace should be cleared to ease our access to this area.
  5. If possible any permits and inspections performed on construction pertaining to the house shoudl be left out.  This gives us the ability to verify the city has inspected what has been constructed and no problems will arise.
  6. If a defect exists within the house that you know about that will affect the house when we inspect this area please ensure we know.  There is no need to be testing dishwashers that may leak onto the floor and cause damage.
  7. The built in dishwasher will be ran to ensure it is in working order. If a load is ready to go before the inspection we will run the dishwasher through a cycle and your dishes will be clean.
  8. If the washer is included please remove the clothes so we can test the washer.
